The storm in Beijing, the capital of China, had a direct impact on flights. 400 flights were canceled due to a sandstorm. It is being described as the worst storm of this decade. The National Meteorological Center reported that sand and dust would affect 12 provinces and regions, ranging from Xinjiang in the northwest to Heilongjiang in the northeast and the eastern coastal port city of Tianjin. "This is the most intense sandstorm our country has seen for the first time in 10 years, as well as it covers a wide area," the center said in a post on its website.

Beijing's official air quality index reached 500 levels due to a sandstorm. Particles identified as PM10 reached 2,000 micrograms per cubic meter in some districts. However, China's Meteorological Department had informed about this. The Meteorological Department announced a yellow alert on Monday morning that these sandstorms would spread from Inner Mongolia to the provinces of Gansu, Shanxi and Hebei.
